Landschaftspark Duisburg Nord
Landschaftspark Duisburg Nord / Country Park Duisburg North
Last year I planned a photographic session with a friend of me in the Lanschaftspark Duisburg Nord. But at this time a part of the park was under construction. Now at end of April 2026 it was the right time to come here.
At first let me explain the roots of the Park. In the beginning of the 2Oth century this area was an industrial area for the steel production. With the decline of the steel industry in Germany, the idea come up to establish a leisure park here. The Park enables many leisure activities like diving, climbing, .... , using the existing buildings and infrastructure.
The next day after my visit the event "Mammutmarsch" took place here.
Also to be mentioned in the evening / night a part of the buildings will be lighted. So you can enjoy a famous light spectacle.
That is why I have decided to present you a day and a night photo gallery.
My Photo Impressions at Day Light
Walking around in the late afternoon I found some remarkable motives in late sun light of the day. Let me share them with you (clicking at one photo will call the functions of the gallery):
My Photo Impressions at Sun Down and Night
In the evening the light atmosphere changed. Nearly all buildings have been illuminated by spot lights. Please enjoy the light spectacle:
Visiting Tiger and Turtle at Night
Not so far away from the Landschaftspark you will find a huge monument located on the "Heinrich-Hildebrand-Höhe" This big sculpture has a wow effect if you come closer. The sculpture has the name 'Tiger and Turtle' (the best description by WIKI is given by the German entry, please use an English tranlator). Even in the night with lights on, the impression is awesome.
Please share my WOW Moment:
Some Additional Information and Hints
The authority of the Landschaftspark Nord has designed a remarkable Web Site in German language.
A good description with some hints you will receive on the Web Site Tiger and Turtle designed by the town of Duisburg.
Some photographical explanations:
If you are professional photographer (only Landschaftspark Duisburg Nord) you should ask for a photo permission at the Web Site of the park.
During the photo session I used my Leica SL2 with a 24 - 90 mm / 2,8 lens. The lens was the right staff for all phtographical situations.
On daylight it was easy to use all possibilities of the lens. In low light and long exposure times I used the camera with a tripod. In darkness with artificial lights I took the photos with aperture 16 und exposure time about 1 sec. by hand to produce light effects. Denoising and photo development was done by ADOBE Lightroom (I have a licence bought by myself).
