Muenster a Cultural Highlight with an impressive Market

Muenster is located in the North West of Nordrhein Westfalen, the biggest federal state of Germany.

Muenster is famous for many things. Here you will find the capital of bike riding in Germany. Also in history for Europe Muenster was important. With the signing of the Peace of Westphalia the Thirty Years War in Germany and the Eighty Years War in the Netherlands endet.

Churches give distinction to the image of Muenster. Let me mention the Dom (totally destroyed during the Second World War) and the St.Lamberts Church.

I was here to join the exhibition of Barbara Hepworth . She created many impressive sculptures and images.

On Market Days (Wednesday and Saturday) you will find a huge offer of flowers and food. I decided to take some photos to give you an idea of the life during this days.

Black and White Photo Workshop "Kulturlandschaft Mecklenburg 2026" with Leica Akademie

In January 2026 we performed our black and white photo workshop with the LEICA AKADEMIE again. From Ludorf our workshop home base we started our photo journeys to the Agronerum Alt-Schwerin, Malchow, Mirow, Dambeck and Freyenstein. Also Ludorf and the environment near the Müritz Lake offered us many photo motives.

I will begin with the photos I shoot in the Agroneum Alt-Schwerin and continue with other locations.

In in the Morning we went often to Müritz Lake and can take impressive photos of sunrise.

The Agriculture Collection Agroneum Alt-Schwerin

Here you will find an impressive collection of agriculture machines, overview over agriculture professions and buildings. Its a real ride through the agriculture history of Mecklenburg Vorpommern always worth a visit. Let me show you some photos in Black and White.

Other Interesting Locations

During the workshop we visited also other locations in Mecklenburg which are from cultural interest. This starts with our home base in Ludorf, continues to the cities of Malchow, Mirow, Freyenstein, near Lärz the airfield and the Fusion area. Dambeck and the very old church ruin was also worth a visit.

Winter in Berlin and Potsdam a spot for Black and White Photographie

Berlin in Winter this is a Photospot where you can take impressive black and white photos . The weather presented all possibilities. We have snow, we have rain, there was fog and heavy sun shine. I had been also in Potsdam where I visited a photo exhibition.

I have visited several spots in Berlin and Potsdam. So I will show you the photos depending on the location.

In Berlin I have visited some other locations. Here I have to mention the Willy Brandt House the Head Quarter of the SPD Party. Not the outside but the inside is very impressive. You will also find photos I have done at the Berlinische Gallery, Charlottenburger Schloss, Steglitz Kreisel and the former atelier of Arno Breker located around the corner of the Brücke Museum.

Visiting Potsdam

The day I visited Potsdam for a photo exhibition of the former GDR was very misty and the snow started to melt. This was a special atmosphere I wanted to transport with the pictures.

Berlin Kaiser Wilhelm Gedächniskirche

The Kaiser Wilhelm Gedächniskirche is a War Memorial and Cathedral. I was here because I love the blue atmosphere of the inside. Because of the colorful impression I decided to take the photos in color to transport this impression to you. I also did an photo experience to show the light flow. Please enjoy.

Christmas at Liege

This time I visited Liege at Christmas time. The day I was here, was a bright sunny day in December and the visit brought me new insights of the city .

At Christmas time the Christmas markets are open. That means for Liege here you will find many special offers for consumption (Belgium Typic) and other interesting things.

But I got also new impressions visiting the Curtius Museum , the church Saint Bartholomew , the Musee de la Vie Walloone and the Saint Pauls Cathedral.

To give you the right photo impression I have decided to show you the photos in three different categories:

Monuments,
Street life,
Facades.

Monuments

Liege was destroyed several times in the history. But today you will find still impressive monuments. Let me mention the font in the Collegiate Church of Saint Bartholomew. Remember this is an artwork of the 12th century.

Street Life

The urban life during Christmas time is changing. Shops have a specific decoration, Christmas Markets are open , Christmas stars and lights you will find at any corner.

Facades

As I mentioned before Liege has a long history and was heavy destroyed several times. This development you will find also in the facades of the town. A very good sample is the facade of the Musee de la Vie Walloone.

Paris in Black and White an Experience

This time I was in Paris with my wife and a photographer college also with his wife. In November 2025 the Paris Photo took place. This is the biggest art fair where photo galleries are presenting art photos, photo books, ... . I was very impressed of this fair and got many helpful suggestions for my own photo work.

Also with the photo fair Gerhard Richter a famous painter of our time was presented by the LVMH Museum. This was also a place I have to go.

My camera in Paris was the little Black Leica Q2M und for some color pictures my Huawei Smartphone. So I took many photos in Black and White. I will show a selection of them to you.

Photos in Street Situations

We moved in Paris with the Metro and by using our foots. Doing this I fetched some interesting impressions:

The Leica Q2 M is an extreme Low Light Camera with up to 100,000 ISO. This high range I have used very often this time. For some photos I used Photoshop to denoise the image. Some Photos I have left in the status. Please let me show the dark side of Paris:

Paris Photo the ultimate Photo Fair

On Friday 14th I visited the Paris Photo. In Europe this is the biggest photo fair. This event gives me a lot of input for my further work. The location of the fair is the Grand Palais . This building was designed and erected for the first world exposition in Paris. It is an impressive location. Let me share my impressions with you:

Cranes and other Cultural Highlights in MV 2025

In October Cranes are preparing in Mecklenburg Vorpommern for the flight to the South of Europe. At this time you can meet thousends of animals. Let me show you first the photos I have shoot with Cranes in various environments and situations:

Other Animals and plants around the Cranes

As Mecklenburg Vorpommern is a Water Resort many birds and animals loving water residing here. That makes this landscape very interesting for birdwatching. In Stuer you will find an area called Bärenwald where formerly bad treated bears live and have a rest. Also the Müritzeum in Waren will give you an insight of animal living in the water. Some additional Cultural Highlights

During my voyage I have also visited some interesting locations. The Agroneum Alt Schwerin is a collection of old farming tools and machines also the ancient live conditions of farming are documented with farm lodges. I visited the Mirow Castle Isle once again, a very interesting place of German History.

Duisburg has got with the Modern Art Museum and Collection a New Hot Spot of Art

Our Photo Art Group decided to perform an excursion to the new Museum of Modern Art "Küppersmühle" in Duisburg. The museum is located in an old silo situated at "Innerhafen".

Now the silo become after the architectural redesign of Herzog & de Meuron an extraordinary home of modern art with an impressive collection. Here you can visit the Website of the "Kuepersmühle" Museum .

One Day in Paris

One Day in Paris from Aachen and Retour

In June 2025 my wife and I started for a one day journey from Aachen to Paris with the Eurostar. In Paris we wanted to visit the David Hockney exhibition. Also the LVMH Museum which is designed by Frank Gehry. The building is a star itself.

We started in Aachen Main Station and arrived in Pris Gare du Nord. The Picture above I have shoot near the Gare.

Liege the City rises up again

Liege is the capital city of Wallonia, a part of Belgium where French is spoken. Not so far away in time Liege was a City of decline. But now has become a City of new strength. I was here several times. This time I was here to get some photos from the Main Station. But nevertheless I visited also the center of the city. The city has an old morbid charm, with commendable restaurants, little amazing shops and many other interesting photo spots. Let me show you some photos to give you an impression:

Rotterdam Different Views to the Modern Architecture

Rotterdam was heavily destroyed in the Second World War by the Germans.

This gives the opportunity to build a new modern inner city. The result is impressive. Many famous architectures had been involved.

I have had a photo session in the city (old harbor district) also also in the old part of the town Delftshaven.

Most of time I used to take color photos. But as some sceneries seemed better in BW to me. I took my Leica Q2M.

Also I took many photos under low light conditions.

So I will separate the photos in three sections Color, Low Light and Black and White.
